How to Clean a Motorcycle Windshield.Everyone knows that over time that oily substances tend to cling to the windshield, it's tough to get rid of the smear. What's the best way to clean these windshields without ruining it? You have to be careful - these babys scratch easy. Anything rougher than the softest of cotton cloths will scratch it up. Do Not use any kind of abrasive cleaning solvents, anything with gasoline, kerosene, ammonia or alcohol. Here are some suggestions: Plexus cleaner works really well. Can also be used to clean the shield on your helmet. Another method: Wash with any kind of dishwashing liquid detergent, simple green or anything that completely dissolves in water. Soak a 100% cotton cloth (maybe real baby diapers) in the soapy mixture. Drape the cloth over the windshield for a few minutes to loosen up any dried bugs. Rub gently to finish the job. Air or blow dry. Polish it up with a soft, 100% cotton cloth, and Lemon Pledge. Makes it look good and even smells good - not to mention repels dust. Don't recommend Rain-X and the like. I've never used it, but have seen good reviews on a product called Brillianize. Clyde -
